CELLULITE: POSITIVE LIVING FROM VIOLETTA

I believe in positive thoughts and positive ways of going about whatever you need to address in your life. Depression is real and if you find yourself slumping into that feeling for whatever reason (financial, emotional, bereavement) you’ve got to look for something positive to help you get out of that state.

The loss of a life in the family affects you so much. I lost my mother recently at 75 and I thought, the best way to handle this – because she’s taught us the best things we know – is to aspire to the good things in her life. She was a very spritely 75 years old. -Although she had quality of life, it was young – I thought – for Mum to go.

I think you should look for the positives in that life to make yourself a better person. If there’s something you need to address in your life, whether it’s an overweight, underweight or cellulite problem, address it in a positive manner. Keep going forward, and if you reach a plateau, seek a way off that plateau. But don’t worry about it too much.

The world isn’t going to cave in because you’ve gone back on what you intended.

Pretend it didn’t happen and get back onto your program. Just don’t give up.

HERBAL TABLETS FOR CELLULITE: GET REAL!

Find out the success rate of someone who has done nothing with their lifestyle other than take herbal compound for three to six months. Measure their results against someone who has taken the herbal compound plus also eaten more fruits and vegetables, less fatty foods and done 20-30 minutes per day of regular exercise four times a week.

In the second instance, the results will be much better because the herbal product can do its job as a catalyst (which is its real role), building on the benefits of other lifestyle modification.

What’s the point of going through all this for a five out of 10 result? Don’t you want a 10 out of 10 result?

If you definitely want to shift that cellulite, don’t rely on the herbal capsules alone. Unless you exercise and get onto a good diet, the result you get from any herb will be marginal. For a period of time the stimulant – the power of the compound – will work. But what happens when you stop the course?

Nothing.

It’ll be just like before.

Four Months

Although the recommended period is three months, I think you need four months on any herbal program – to give yourself a chance to let it do its job. Herbs are not like drugs, they don’t hit the system fast. Drugs just zap you. They work quickly; they are refined to do just that. Herbs take a while.

In fact, it takes a couple of weeks before your system starts to even take herbal compound seriously, and four months for the herbs to get into their stride!

Summary

• Check you are not allergic to any ingredient in the cellulite herbal tablets.

• Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or suffer allergies.

• Herbs need at least four months in your system to allow your body to adjust and respond.

• Positive results can be seen within as little as two months.

• Combined with regular exercise and a good diet, a course of herbal capsules will work really well!

CELLULITE: BE CAREFUL IN YOUR FOOD

Bread

Lebanese, Matzoth (matzos) and Naan bread are simply flour, salt, water and leaven – no fat whatsoever. Choose them, and avoid cheese & bacon pull-aparts and breads that have been heavily worked over.

Pasta

Pasta is an excellent source of complex carbohydrates for energy. Best of all, pasta is low in fat. Transform your simple pasta dish with traditional sauces made from olive oil, garlic, onions, mushrooms, plump tomatoes, fresh basil and pine nuts. And voila, you have a scrumptious, low fat meal to enjoy.

Ice Cream

Ice creams that are genuinely fat-free can be very light in kilo-joules. There are some quite good frozen yoghurts. But check out the ingredients carefully before you believe it is genuinely fat free. It might be low in one thing, but high in something else.

Gelato can be quite low in fat. Frozen fresh fruit juice is probably the best iced product you can prepare yourself at home for cellulite loss. Simply juice and freeze your favourite fruit.

CELLULITE ACTION PLAN: PRIMARY AND SECONDARY ACTIVITIES

Choose two types of exercises or activities, (1) your primary activity – where you exercise for fitness, and (2) your secondary activity – which is a passive exercise.

• Primary activity

As a primary activity you may choose something like walking, jogging, swimming, exercise or weight training. Do that primary activity three times a week, every week.

After a while you should become quite expert in this area. Such activities will certainly contribute to getting your muscular system toned up, as well as getting your heart-lung system working better. More important is that this physical activity is your nominated number one way to lose cellulite.

Be sure to pick an activity that suits your style, with pleasant companions. Exercising in a fitness centre doesn’t suit everybody. Neither does swimming. Choose something you enjoy.

This doesn’t mean you’ve got to reach high activity levels every day. It just means the activities that you do should be done on a regular basis.

• Secondary activity

Your secondary activity might be something you do once or twice a week: shopping, housework, walking the dog, playing golf, gardening, yoga, T’ai Chi. (They are all worthwhile activities if you ‘push yourself when doing them. Their exercise value is important, though secondary.) If you are doing good primary work, your secondary activities will never tire you.

Choose something that you can learn to love – not a hobby that involves sitting at a desk pasting stamps into albums, but one that involves getting out and bushwalking, or bird watching (that’s a form of bush walking), or a passive sport like golf, fishing, bowls or gardening. In fact, anything that gets you out and about.

One person attending a weight loss program told me that after a few weeks the garden had never looked better and she was watching much less television. She loved gardening, and chose to spend one hour a day in the garden as her physical exercise.

FOR CELLULITE SOLLUTION: START WALKING

• Walk, whenever you can

Anyone can start walking. Even in wet weather you can put on a cap and a raincoat and enjoy the great outdoors. Walking is something you can do any time. Instead of driving a short distance, walk instead.

For example, when returning a video or buying the Sunday papers – just walk. And instead of catching the lift or the elevator at shopping centres or at work – walk those stairs.

This should not count as ‘exercise’. Walking is no more than a small change of habits which, if added to an exercise program, keeps your circulation moving around, and keeps the cellulite moving out.

You can, however, turn walking into an exercise if you remember that exercise is not exercise unless you feel a bit uncomfortable during the session. If it’s too much of a stroll, you won’t have done much.

Turning a walk into an ‘exercise’: (Try this when you’re walking the dog!) Prefer a local park to road surface which results in hard jarring on your joints. Go where grass will cushion your efforts, especially if you are carrying a lot of weight.

Work out a walking circuit – then walk it.

Secondly, mark off two points (about the length of a cricket pitch). Walk as fast as you can between those points. Don’t sprint, you may not be able to, so don’t do that! Give it your best shot for 20 seconds. Have a rest for 20 to 30 seconds and then go back. Do a series of power walks between those two points. Start slowly and build up your efforts. You may start with just two-three ‘pace’ or ‘express’ walks, and gradually build it up to 10 to 15 over time.

ANKLE PAIN

Think R.I.C.E. for first aid treatment for ankle pain.

R: rest (three days)

I: ice (10 minutes every hour while painful)

C: compression (use a support bandage)

E: elevation (allow swelling to drain).

After the sprain has been treated with ice, rest and an ankle support, then it is important to have the joint corrected and adjusted back into its original position.

This rarely happens so the joint becomes weak and often resprains at the first opportunity. We have found that if the joint is adjusted quickly, it heals faster and regains its normal position, resulting in a strong, secure joint.

This is important. We are only as strong as our lowest supporting joint. Because of the effects of gravity we are an accident waiting to happen if we are not correctly balanced. Athletes, particularly, cannot afford this risk.

Acupuncture now will halve the pain and time of healing. Everyone prefers a well shaped ankle. Let your chiropractor/ ♦osteopath adjust it for you as soon as possible.

Bill’s experience-Last December my left ankle became very painful and swelled up to twice its size. My medical doctor prescribed antibiotics once . . . no reaction . . . twice . . . then after some four weeks I had an adjustment some acupuncture and the ankle was back to normal in two days.

AN A-Z OF DORSAL AND THORACIC PAIN: COUGHING (DRY)

The diaphragm muscle is susceptible to being strained by twisting type injuries. This state of affairs can irritate the nerves around the diaphragm, resulting in an aggravating dry cough.

Adjusting the ribs is crucial to halt coughing that may not evolve from a mucus condition. Sometimes the diaphragm muscle along the ribs is in spasm and triggers the coughing reaction. Massage around here is beneficial.

The edge of scars, such as those from gall bladder removal, needs to be acupunctured to release the energy flow trapped there, which also causes tension to the diaphragm. Few people realise that this is a problem and that it can be treated with surprising and beneficial results.

George’s story-I took my friend to see the osteopath. He was exceptionally bad tempered and had had a hacking cough since he had been trapped under a tractor some years before. The doctors had done all they could to cure him of his cough without success.

The osteopath said that he had been a very sick man for years with intercostal muscle spasms. Though it took weeks, his chest was worked on freeing the tension and he was cured. He is once again very thoughtful and caring, and no longer suffers from the cough.

LEUCORRHOEA AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT – INTRODUCTION

Today’s fashions are responsible for an increasing number of women and girls suffering from leucorrhoea, commonly called the ‘whites’. In the past, when women were accustomed to wearing warm clothes in winter, very few experienced this bothersome problem. Thick woollen stockings, warm underwear, loose woollen dresses and good shoes used to provide the necessary warmth, even if there was no central heating in the house and only the living room and kitchen were heated. Today, however, we usually live in overheated rooms and dress as lightly as possible even in winter. Add to this modern way of life our inborn vanity that appeals to our desire for a figure that is slimmer than is advisable for good health, and there you have the origin of colds and their serious consequences. What is more, the hectic pace of our times encourages us to overtax our physical strength and inner resources, and if a person has a weak constitution to start with, colds and their consequences are an inevitable result.

THE LACRIMAL GLANDS 2

Inflammation of the tear ducts themselves is rare, but that of the nasolacrimal duct and the lacrimal sac is more frequent. If this inflammation is not given immediate attention with herbal packs of camomile and eyebright, the attacking bacteria may cause a chronic condition or even the formation of abscesses. Flushing of the eyes with warm milk or mallow leaf water, to which a few drops of Echinaforce has been added, is a rapid cure for simple inflammations. For those who work or live in a dusty environment it is highly recommended to cleanse the area of the eyes with the lids closed by wiping them with a cotton pad soaked in Echinaforce. Do this every evening. It prevents dirt, dust and bacteria from entering the eye itself. If the lacrimal duct is blocked you must see a doctor to have it punctured. At the same time, it is important to use Echinaforce as mentioned above and to bathe the eyes with warm milk or herbal tea. If the eyes tend to be encrusted in the morning upon awakening, it is a sign of a metabolic disorder which must be treated immediately.

CHECKLIST FOR THE TREATMENT OF INFLUENZA – 4

After the illness has passed, we must direct our attention to the follow-up treatment, being mindful that the period of convalescence should not be short. Even though the acute symptoms have subsided, we should still apply physiotherapy. Also, continue taking diuretic or excretory medicines even if the fever has subsided. This will eliminate all of the accumulated toxins so that no damage elsewhere in the body is possible.

Every bout of flu should receive follow-up treatment. In fact, with any infectious disease it is advisable to continue the treatment conscientiously until the patient has fully recovered. This is the only way to prevent after effects, which can be much more unpleasant than you think. If you become impatient, just remember that you remain prone to contracting a new infection until all vestiges of the last one have been eliminated during convalescence.
